Pam's background was completed in an "art foamies" workshop that Sarah Matthews facilitated. There she used stamps created by Sarah to develop a 'day glow' background (reminiscent of the letterpress concert posters created by Globe Press) of broken links and a small abstract that speaks to community. We are living in a traumatic time where communities are being ruptured. Pam's 9 small prints are from past work--a wood cut of Obama superimposed over the MLK March for Jobs and Freedom with the word "Unite" printed in gold letterpress. Her other print is part of a large woodcut, "Be Aware" depicting major concerns for our planet, such as the island of plastic trash, angry whales, nuclear threat, and endangered wildlife. The word "protect" is letterpress printed in gold near the whale. She wants to remind people that united we stand; we must be resilient and responsive--we must unite as Americans--whatever our cultural backgrounds, and we must protect the earth--the only home we have.
